Dr. Pistorius grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. She attended Centenary College of Louisiana where she graduated summa cum laude. She then attended Louisiana State University in Shreveport and earned a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. She completed medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, then returned home to Shreveport for her residency training. She completed a residency in General Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and served as chief resident during her residency and fellowship.
