A native of Missouri, Dr. Mark Brown attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City in a special accelerated program that allowed him to complete both his undergraduate and medical degrees in six years. He then moved to Shreveport for a surgical internship at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport. Knowing he wanted to specialize in pediatric surgery, Dr. Brown completed a research fellowship at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania and returning to Shreveport for a General Surgery Residency. Upon completion of his residency he performed another year of research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where he was awarded a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship from this nationally-recognized institution. Following this extensive training, Dr. Brown returned to Shreveport as an Assistant Professor in Surgery at LSU School of Medicine, where he was promoted to associate professor in only a few years. Leaving academics in 1999, Dr. Brown joined a pediatric surgery group in private practice in Houston, Texas, operating primarily at Texas Children’s Hospital. After six years, he returned to Shreveport to practice pediatric surgery, enjoying private practice and academia, serving as a clinical associate professor at LSU School of Medicine.
Dr. Brown is married and has four children, two daughters and two sons. He enjoys golf, grilling spending time with his family…and golf!
