Curriculum and Rotation Schedule

Claiborne Memorial Medical Center (CMMC)

Organizational Structure

The WKH/Claiborne Rural Family Medicine Residency Program is structured as a three-year training experience that follows a 13, 4-week block schedule. Residents in PGY-1 receive rotation experiences focused on developing fundamental clinical skills through primary assignments in rural family medicine, pertinent subspecialty rotations, and the FMP. The PGY-2 allows residents to develop a more robust fund of knowledge and clinical skill set through continued exposure in primary assignments with additional experiences in the FMP, rural family medicine, medical subspecialties, and individualized curriculum rotations. The final year of training is focused on preparing the PGY-3 for independent practice through leadership roles on the services, additional subspecialty rotations, and extensive experience in individualized curriculum rotations and the FMP. For all rotations at WK facilities, apartment housing is provided.
