Our FMP

Butler Abshire Exterior

Our Mission at Butler Abshire Medical Clinic (BAMC), the FMP for our rural family medicine residency program, is deeply rooted in our personal connection with our patients. We aim to be the cornerstone of healthcare for our community by providing the quality and personalized care we want for ourselves and our families. In the spirit of caring for future generations, BAMC is committed to educating and mentoring the next generation of providers in a teaching environment.

BAMC serves as the cornerstone of the Rural Family Medicine Residency Program, providing residents with a longitudinal, patient-centered clinical experience throughout their three years of training. Each resident is assigned a dedicated panel of patients for whom they serve as the primary care provider, allowing them to develop ongoing therapeutic relationships and deliver comprehensive, coordinated care across the lifespan.

Under the supervision of the family medicine faculty, residents manage a wide range of acute, chronic, and preventive health conditions in a team-based setting. The clinic emphasizes evidence-based practice, population health management, and continuity of care, fostering the development of clinical competence, communication skills, and professional identity.

Residents progressively assume more responsibility over time, gaining experience in outpatient procedures, care coordination, and interprofessional collaboration.

This sustained engagement within the community equips residents with the skills and confidence necessary to practice full-scope family medicine in diverse healthcare environments.
