Dr. Permenter earned her medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She then completed her internship and residency training in Family Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport, where she trained in broad spectrum primary care and developed a strong appreciation for continuity of care across the lifespan. Her approach emphasizes thoughtful, evidence-based medicine that considers the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
Dr. Permenter is a board-certified family medicine physician who provides compassionate, patient-centered care with a focus on preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and long-term relationships with her patients. She cares for individuals and families across all stages of life and is committed to delivering high quality, accessible care. Throughout her career, Dr. Permenter has practiced in a variety of clinical settings, including academic and community-based clinics across north Louisiana. Her passion for rural medicine ultimately led her to practice at Claiborne Memorial Medical Center and Homer Medical Clinic in Claiborne Parish, where she is proud to care for the community she serves.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Permenter works with the hospital’s rural residency program, helping train the next generation of physicians and encouraging young doctors to pursue careers in rural medicine. Outside of medicine, Dr. Permenter enjoys spending time with her husband, their two daughters, four dogs, more than twenty ducks and one goose.
