Dr. Catherine Speights, MD, grew up on a farm in rural north Louisiana.  She attended Logansport High School and graduated as a valedictorian. Dr. Speights then attended Louisiana Tech University graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. She then taught Biology and Chemistry at Haughton High School until 1992, at which time she decided to pursue a career in medicine. As part of this pursuit, she returned to school and became a Registered Respiratory Therapist. This certification aided her in obtaining acceptance to Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport. Upon completion of medical school, Dr. Speights then completed the Family Medicine Residency program at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. After working as a Family Physician in both the clinical and emergency room setting in south Louisiana for the next eight years, she decided to return home to north Louisiana. Currently Dr. Speights serves as the Medical Director for the Willis Knighton Quick Care clinics and works part time as a preceptor in the Willis Knighton Internal Medicine Residency Program.
